So sorry to find out today of my friend Maylock's passing. He was a wonderfully creative person, one that I knew in a past lifetime, and never forgot. If he had been able to obtain a liver transplant, he may have still been with us. RIP my old friend.
i'm always so flattered when someone who's work i admire, likes mine too... then when they turn out to be an excellent friend, it gets even better. sure gonna miss this guy, salt of the earth, fruit of the cosmos, lives on!
I played music with Maylock, and Shon (in that order)
The two guitars became one .We played in California, and Hawaii with a unique sound called Soma, celestial jazz. . Also music of the spheres on the first Quadrophonic replay system. History done well....
I haven't seen Shon or Maylock since the early 1970's in Marin county when we were all in the Fairfax Street Choir. I was Maylock's girlfriend for a short period of time. I remember him telling me his sister was born in the eye of the hurricane. He was kind of a warlocky kinda dude in those days, but knew he was a great artist. I'm sorry about his liver disease, I can relate as I have problems with my kidney. Looking forward to seeing Shon in Oregon Feb/March 2012, "RIP Maylock dear, aloha

My name is Shon Gale and Maylock has been working on art since I first met him in 1965 in the San Francisco Haight Ashbury, where he helped keep me off the street by letting me sleep in the closet of a bunch of hookers he was staying with in the Tenderloin District. Made me feel right at home. He proceeded to take me on a journey of wonderment in the following years as we grew to be lifelong friends. First he introduced me to Sci-Fi books, then to Sci-Fi Art, then we explored music and became partners in the Fairfax Street Choir and then a band called Talasan, always remaining true to his creative vision. Maylock and I have created hours of original music of which this page will play.
